Crowd Pleaser

I’ve shared this banana bread at numerous gatherings and it’s an absolute hit! I usually let everyone taste it first before spilling the beans on its healthy ingredients (ya don’t want people to prejudge ya know?).

When they ask for the recipe they FLIP! They can’t believe it’s actually healthy. I fully support you trying this approach next time you serve something healthy to your family and friends. It’s quite satisfying and hilarious.

My husband, who’s unfortunately not a fan of desserts or baked goods (we’re working on it) ACTUALLY LOVED this banana bread! Yay mini victory! So even for the pickiest of eaters, this healthy treat will hit the spot.

Oil-free, How?

No oil in this beautiful bread my friends. That means way FEWER CALORIES and LESS FAT then your typical banana bread. Instead of oil, we use…drum roll please…one of my favorite secret ingredients...PLAIN NON-FAT GREEK YOGURT! Not only does this ingredient save us on fat and calories, it actually adds nutrition and protein! It also makes this banana bread extremely moist (sorry to those who hate that word).

Gluten-free Banana Bread Ingredients

OAT FLOUR: You can make your own Oat Flour from home! Check out my post on how to do this in just 3 STEPS! (How to Make Home-Made Flours).

ALMOND FLOUR: This ingredient is key in making this bread melt in your mouth. It’s also a great source of healthy fats and fiber which will keep you fuller for longer.

COCONUT SUGAR: This secret ingredient tastes very similar to brown sugar. Ever had a snack or treat that gives you immediate energy (sugar rush) but then leaves you feeling hungrier or sluggish 20 minutes later? I know I have. That’s because that snack we ate probably had processed foods or sugars in it that spiked our blood sugar giving our bodies a sense of “energy.” However, this “energy” quickly takes a turn for the worst and after about 20 minutes our blood sugar plummets, causing us to feel icky and lethargic.

Coconut sugar is incredible because it tastes amazing and DOESN’T SPIKE BLOOD SUGAR. It’s actually healthy for you! Read more about the health benefits of coconut sugar!

Need a recipe for ripe bananas?

I need dairy free. Any ideas what to sub for the yogurt?

    • Claire

any dairy-free yogurt will work 🙂 cashew yogurt, almond milk yogurt etc. Let me know what you think when you make it!

This is soooo freaking good! 😊 thank you so much – everyone loved it and they all thought it was full of AP flour and sugar. I have tried using all almond flour before and it has such a different consistency and taste, my family won’t eat it. I love that it’s in there but they have no idea!

    • Claire

Megan! I am so glad you all loved this banana bread! YAY! Thanks for taking the time to leave this nice comment. Happy Healthy Baking!

Just made this! So YUM! I did 2 cups oat flour and about a half cup regular flour. Added honey instead of coconut sugar and great consistency and taste!! A go to when I need to use bananas!

  • Serena

Claire, I love your recipes! I’m in STL, too! I have an almond allergy – is there any sub at all for the almond flour? Thank you in advance!

    • Claire

Hi Serena! Awh so glad you love my recipes 🥹 you can replace it with all oat flour. Let me know what you think! It will probably just turn out more fluffy and a little less moist but you can add a splash more plant based milk if the batter looks a little too thick. 🙂
