Nutella Banana Bread Recipe
Nothing will ever beat chocolate in my eyes. But, chocolate paired with hazelnut is just a match made in heaven. So when I was craving something chocolatey after dinner one night and all I had was my Vegan Banana Bread to snack on, I came up with a solution. This healthy Nutella banana bread. This banana bread did not only satisfy my chocolate craving, it left my house smelling like a brownie bakery!

How To Add Nutella To Banana Bread
You could totally make this bread into a Nutella SWIRL banana bread, but I kept it simple and one bowl by just adding all the ingredients together to make it a chocolate bread. Totally up to you. If you want to make the swirl, just put the batter in two different bowls and add the Nutella to one of them. Then just like my healthy pumpkin swirl cheesecake, add a little of each batter at a time and swirl it around until you’ve used up both batters. Easy peasy and delicious!

Tips for the Best Nutella Banana Bread
- Ripe Bananas: This recipe is absolutely perfect for using ripe bananas. The key is to have very speckled, and soft bananas. The more speckled and ripe they are, the sweeter they will be! What if your bananas aren’t ripe, but YOU NEED this banana bread now?! I learned a very helpful tip for how to ripen your bananas in just 15 minutes from my friend Liv @keepupwithliv.
Here’s her banana ripening trick: Place bananas in the oven at 300 F. for 15 minutes until they turn black on the outside and soft.
Now you’ll never have an excuse NOT to make healthy banana bread!
- Mix Baking Powder in last: This tip is a vital one and I use it for recipes like my Gluten-Free Carrot Cake Muffins. Instead of adding the baking powder to the batter along with the dry ingredients, this recipe instructs you to add the baking powder last, after mixing all the ingredients together. This step ensures that the baking powder doesn’t get over mixed. The result: the fluffiest and most beautiful healthy banana bread you’ve ever laid eyes on.

Nutella Banana Bread (Healthy + Easy!)

This Nutella Banana Bread is not only super easy to make, but it’s also completely gluten-free and healthy! So you can enjoy it without the guilt. What a perfect way to use your ripe bananas! Oil-free with a vegan option.
Ingredients
Wet
- 2 Eggs (See Note 1 for sub option)
- 1 Cup Mashed Banana (about 2 ripe bananas)
- ½ Cup Homemade Healthy Nutella (+ more for optional drizzling after baking) (may sub store bought nutella. See Note 3 below for a healthy option)
- ¼ Cup Plant-Based Milk (or milk of choice)
- ¼ Cup Pure Maple Syrup (may omit if using store bought nutella)
Dry
- 1 Cup Oat Flour (I make my own in 3 steps. Make sure your oats are gluten-free if needed)
- ⅓ Cup Almond Flour (tightly packed)
- ⅛ tsp Pink Himalayan Salt
- 3 tsp Baking Powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven 350 F. Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl add all wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Next, add in all dry ingredients except baking powder. Mix until combined. Then gently fold in baking powder.
- Transfer batter to loaf pan and bake at 350 F. for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs (mine was perfect after 37 minutes).
- Allow banana bread to cool at least 10 minutes before enjoying! Store in an airtight container on the counter for 3 days, in the refrigerator up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.
Notes
- I have not tested an egg substitute for this recipe. I would suggest doing 1 Flax Egg to replace the two eggs (1 Tbs ground flax + 2 Tbs water). Let me know if you try this!
- This banana bread should work great as muffins too! Let me know if you try making them like this 🙂
- You can use store-bought Nutella for this banana bread, just make sure the ingredients are as clean as possible. This is a solid brand with good ingredients: healthier store-bought Nutella!
