Best Ever Healthy Peach Crisp
Is peach crisp healthy? A lot of people may think that peach crisp is inherently healthy because come on… there’s fruit in it! Right?! Well, the truth is, most peach crisp recipes have refined sugar, refined flour, and these ingredients really just don’t do your body any good. Instead of having refined and highly processed ingredients in a peach crisp, this recipe is made with pure maple syrup, coconut sugar, oats, oat flour, and fresh or frozen peaches! You will simply adore the finished result, trust me!
What Kind Of Peaches To Use For Healthy Peach Crisp?
I used fresh ripe peaches. They’re perfectly in season in July! Don’t let the fact that you don’t have fresh peaches hold you back from making this glorious summer dessert though. FRESH OR FROZEN BOTH WORK! 🙂

If you’ve made my Healthy Apple Crisp, or my Gluten-Free Berry Crisp then you know how easy my recipes are. This vegan and gluten-free peach crisp is no exception.

Gluten-Free Peach Crisp Recipe
What I love about this easy peach crisp is the fact that we use oats as the main “flour.” I love using oat flour for most of my recipes, but for the crumble topping, I wanted to create a little more texture so we use 1½ cups rolled oats plus some oat flour. Using oats and tapioca flour make this peach crisp recipe completely gluten-free! See notes below recipe for tapioca flour subs.

Commonly Asked Questions
What size baking dish for peach crisp? I used a 2 quart baking dish (the same baking dish I use for my baked oatmeal recipes). A baking dish with a similar size and shape should work well! 8×8 or 9×9 baking dishes work perfectly too.
How many cups of peaches for peach crisp? We use about 5 cups of cubed peaches for this gluten-free peach crisp recipe. A little more is totally okay too if you’re trying to get rid of ripe peaches.
Can I make this peach crisp nut-free? Absolutely! Just omit the walnuts in the crumble topping to make this peach crisp nut-free! Easy, peasy!
What can I use as a substitute for grass-fed butter? You can use solid coconut oil, or vegan butter as a substitute for grass-fed butter. This will make the crisp vegan and dairy-free too!
How to Store Gluten-Free Peach Crisp
Store peach crisp in the baking dish with a lid or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week! I’ve also read that you can freeze leftover peach crisp for up to 3 months too!

Completely gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and can easily be made dairy-free, vegan, and nut-free! It seriously is the best ever peach crisp I’ve ever had! No one will think this is healthy.
Ingredients
Filling
- 3-4 large ripe peaches (about 5 cups cubed peaches)
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup or honey
- 1½ Tbs. tapioca flour (can sub cornstarch or arrowroot powder)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
- optional: dash of cinnamon
Topping
- 1½ cups rolled oats (or quick cooking oats)
- ⅓ cup oat flour (can sub more quick cooking oats) (I make homemade oat flour in my blender)
- ¼ cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp. pink Himalayan salt
- 6 Tbs. cubed cold grass-fed butter (can sub vegan butter or solid coconut oil. I also tested with room temperature butter and it still came out well)
- Optional: ½ cup coarsely chopped walnuts (or nut of choice)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 F. In a 2-quart baking dish (or an 8x8 baking dish), add all filling ingredients. Mix until combined. Set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, add rolled oats, oat flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and pink salt. Stir until combined. Add in cubed butter and use a handheld pastry blender, your hands, or a fork, to combine ingredients until it looks like coarse crumbs. Mix in nuts if desired.
3. Place crumble topping on peach mixture and bake at 350 F. for 30-36 minutes until golden and the peaches are bubbling (mine was perfect at 35 minutes).
4. Let cool at least 15 minutes before serving with your favorite ice cream or whipped cream and enjoy! The juices will thicken more after being stored in the refrigerator. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Notes
- Can I use frozen peaches for this recipe? Fresh or frozen peaches will work wonderfully in this recipe.
- What size baking dish for peach crisp? I used a 2-quart baking dish (the same baking dish I use for my baked oatmeal recipes). A baking dish with a similar size and shape should work well! 8x8 or 9x9 baking dishes work perfectly too.
