This vegan chocolate tart is creamy, smooth, and rich. It will surely satisfy your sweet tooth and it’s guilt-free because of the healthy ingredients we use! The chocolate ganache filling is so easy to make by just adding everything to a blender or food processor. This healthy chocolate tart recipe is also gluten-free, nut-free, and dairy-free!

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Chill Time 30 minutes
Total Time 58 minutes

Ingredients

Sugar Cookie Crust

  • 4 Tbs. (1 stick) softened vegan butter or grass-fed butter
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup or honey
  • ½ flax egg (½ Tbs. ground flax + 1 Tbs. water. Let thicken for 5 minutes) or 1 regular egg
  • ½ Tbs. plain non-dairy yogurt or Greek yogurt
  • ⅛ tsp. almond extract
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbs. gluten-free flour (I use this brand) - make sure it contains xanthan gum (can sub white whole wheat flour)
  • ½ tsp. baking powder

Chocolate ganache filling

  • ½ block (4 oz.) vegan cream cheese (softened)
  • Flesh of 1 medium ripe avocado (about ½ cup)
  • ¼ cup + 2 Tbs. plant-based milk
  • 1 cup Enjoy Life dairy-free dark chocolate morsels (melted)
  • 2 Tbs. pure maple syrup or honey
  • 1 cup vegan cool whip or coconut whipped cream

Berry topping

  • 2 pints fresh berries of choice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. and grease a 9-inch tart pan with vegan butter or coconut oil.
  2. In a medium bowl or standing mixer, beat vegan butter, maple syrup, flax egg, non-dairy yogurt, almond extract, and vanilla extract, and lemon juice until creamed together (it’s okay if it’s clumpy). Add gluten-free flour and baking powder. Mix until combined and a dough forms. Transfer to tart dish and use your fingers to flatten and spread into an even layer, going up the sides as well.
  3. Bake at 350 F. for 8-10 minutes or until fragrant and lightly golden (the crust will puff up quite a bit, but then deflate once cooled). Let cool completely.
  4. Add all the chocolate ganache filling ingredients to a food processor or high-speed blender. Blend on high until smooth, scraping down the sides when needed.
  5. Pour chocolate ganache filling into the cooled tart crust and smooth in an even layer. Decorate the top of the tart with an assortment of fresh berries (I used strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries).
  6. Place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes. Slice, serve, and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container or covered in cling wrap in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze the whole tart for up to 3 months.

Vegan Chocolate Tart Recipe

I love that this vegan chocolate tart recipe is egg-free. A lot of my vegan recipes use flax eggs or chia eggs, which I really love working with! This vegan chocolate tart is no different. We use 1 flax egg to make the soft gluten-free sugar cookie crust hold together. I know of so many people who have egg allergies, so this chocolate tart is truly the best way to feed and nourish anyone with a yummy treat who otherwise couldn’t enjoy it.

Easy Vegan Chocolate Tart

Easy recipes are what I am all about! If you know me or have been following me for a while you know that all I make are simple easy recipes. I am a mom of three young kiddos which means I really don’t have the time (or energy 😂) to make time-consuming treats. I mean just look at my 4 ingredient homemade chocolate sauce, berry crisp, or my dairy-free chocolate pudding! If you’re looking for more easy recipes, check out my Healthy Baking Course where I teach you all you need to know about healthy baking and making it simple 🙂

Now, this vegan chocolate berry tart is to not get confused with chocolate chip pop-tarts. I know some people might be asking are chocolate chip pop tarts vegan? And to that, my answer is the gelatin powder used to make the frosting on pop tarts is most certainly not vegan. But that’s why I just stick to this vegan chocolate tart recipe anyways 😉

You can easily make this a salted chocolate tart by just adding some flaky sea salt to the top! YUM! I love adding flaky sea salt on top of my peanut butter cookie dough bars and my mint chocolate fudge bars too.

Chocolate Tart Without Cream

What I absolutely love about this tart recipe is that there is no cream or dairy in it at all! The sugar cookie crust uses vegan butter and the base of the tart filling is made up of vegan cream cheese, avocado, and dark chocolate chips. You can definitely make this recipe using grass-fed butter and regular cream cheese if you don’t have a dairy intolerance.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Tart Crust

The crust for this vegan chocolate tart is actually a gluten-free sugar cookie recipe! Yum. We use King Arthur’s gluten-free flour to make this chocolate tart crust. So the recipe is gluten-free and nut-free too.

Dark Chocolate Tart Recipe

Dark chocolate is definitely a love language of mine. If you’ve checked out any of my recipes you know that dark chocolate is basically all I use. The Enjoy Life brand is precisely one of my favorite healthier and allergy-friendly chocolate chips!

Gluten-Free Chocolate Ganache Tart

Making desserts secretly gluten-free is something I’ve been doing for years now. If you’ve tried my gluten-free millionaire bars, fluffy vegan coffee cake, or my copycat homemade tagalong cookies, you’ll know what I’m talking about. So, when I say this vegan chocolate tart is secretly gluten-free, I mean it! No one will be able to tell it’s gluten-free and sweetened with all-natural sweeteners like pure maple syrup or honey.

For this recipe, we use gluten-free all-purpose flour to give the gluten-free tart crust the perfect soft and chewy texture while also keeping the chocolate tart nut-free. Usually, I like using a combination of gluten-free flour and another flour when I am baking something, but for this gluten-free sugar cookie tart crust, just the gluten-free flour works perfectly. Doing this makes the recipe simple and allergy friendly. Win, win!

My favorite gluten-free all-purpose flour to use for this vegan chocolate tart recipe is King Arthur’s Measure For Measure Gluten-free Flour. I also have made this gluten-free tart recipe using Cup 4 Cup multipurpose gluten-free flour as well and it works perfectly! The gluten-free flour you use must contain xanthan gum. You need to find gluten-free flour with xanthan gum, otherwise, this gluten-free tart crust will fall apart. You can also add xanthan gum if you have it on hand and your gluten-free flour doesn’t contain it.

Reasons To Love This Vegan Chocolate Tart Recipe?

  1. Ridiculously easy to make! Just pop everything into a blender to make the healthy chocolate ganache filling. Mix all your sugar cookie crust ingredients in one bowl! Bake and fill with the vegan chocolate tart filling. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
  2. Perfect smooth and rich texture. This vegan chocolate tart has the best texture. I love how smooth and decadent it is. Plus it has all real food ingredients in it and no refined sugar! You really can’t go wrong.
  3. Flavor explosion. This tastes like unhealthy chocolate mousse, seriously. But I think it’s even better because you don’t get any grittiness from refined sugar. Since we use pure maple syrup, the gluten-free sugar cookie crust is soft and the vegan ganache is creamy and rich.
